AIADMK PROTEST
A sizable protest march against DMK violence in Karur will be held by AIADMK.
In a statement, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the interim general secretary of the AIADMK and a former chief minister, said that DMK cadres were attacking party members while Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stood by and did nothing.
CHENNAI: On December 29, the opposition will stage a sizable protest march in Karur to denounce the alleged DMK-inspired violence that was directed at its cadres.
According to EPS, the AIADMK leader was attacked during the contest for the position of district panchayat vice president. In a statement, the former chief minister said that S. Thiruvikka was later released after the elections. He said that iron rods were also used to damage the automobile that M.R. Vijayabaskar, a former transport minister, was travelling in.
He said that K.N.R. Sivaraj, joint secretary of the AIADMK Karur district IT wing, had also been kidnapped by DMK personnel before being freed.
The state leadership of the AIADMK was under pressure from the local workers and leaders to organise a protest programme since there had been several incidents of AIADMK workers being reportedly attacked by DMK members.
