Organized for the first time, the Tribe of Nova festival brought together several thousand young people on Friday, on the occasion of Sukkot, the Jewish harvest festival. This open-air festival took place in the Negev desert, near the Israeli kibbutz Re’im, located approximately 4 km from the border with the Gaza Strip.

From Friday evening to Saturday afternoon, festival-goers were expected to attend sets by DJs from all over the world. According to one of the festival organizers, interviewed by Israeli television, around 3,000 people participated in this rave party. In these images, we see the party in full swing. In the distance, black dots announce the arrival of Hamas fighters.
What happened Saturday morning?
The attack began in the early morning, Saturday, around 6:30 a.m. While many of them were still dancing, the music stopped and a rocket warning siren sounded. Various testimonies speak of the arrival of terrorists on motorbikes, some armed attackers descending on the crowd on paragliders or microlights.
“They were everywhere with automatic weapons, stood next to cars and started shooting,” festival-goer Gili Yoskovich told the BBC. The terrorists came from four or five places. Some people were shooting at me. I saw people dying all around. The terrorists remained in the area for three hours. »
